DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY
The
Department of Surgery is divided into different divisions,
i.e., General Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology and Trauma Surgery,
Gynecology, Thoracic and Cardio-vascular Surgery, Urology,
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The Department is in
the process of establishing the division of Neurological
Surgery.
Each division is headed by
an experienced Chief of Service with proven track record
of competence, academic background, administrative and leadership
qualities. Each Division Chief is responsible for supervision
and smooth working of his/her division. All Chiefs of Divisions
function under the overall guidance of Chairman of the Department
of Surgery.
The
Operating Rooms are designed to specifications as recommended
by the American College of Surgeons and furnished with piped
anesthesia gases and the latest imported surgical and monitoring
equipment. Besides conventional autoclaving, ethylene oxide
gas sterilization is available. Infection control guidelines
are strictly enforced and, whenever possible, disposable
supplies are used. Separate operating rooms are provided
for orthopedic surgery and cardio-vascular surgery. Emphasis
is laid on Minimal Invasive Surgery. Excellent monitoring
facilities are provided for Post-anesthesia Recovery .
